Happy Monday folks! Today is December 2nd, whoa. Only 4 more Monday’s of 2024!
I’m happy to repost that I’ve never missed a Monday. Of course, this is a random rule that I made up, but I’m proud of myself for sticking to it! As I’ve said before, I work well on a deadline. Very Carrie Bradshaw era.
This past week was our second and last week in the studio for Frozen. Tomorrow we’ll head into the theatre for tech! I feel incredibly lucky every day that I get to show up to the Hobby Center for work. I can’t wait to put all of the technical elements into the show so it can really be magical!
Towards the end of each year, I get very nostalgic for all of the things I’ve done this year. I like to look back on milestones and achieved goals. It’s also a time of recalibration. This is when I realign future goals and try to break them down into baby steps. My favorite thing to do around New Year’s Eve is make lists! So I figure the next few weeks will be a lot of that!
To start us off, here are my writing stats. This is the first year that I began to identify as a writer. Most of us are writers in our own sense, but this year I just started to claim it. Yes, the year is not over yet. So I do plan to up some of these numbers! But for now:
I have completed 41… Writings? Pieces? Writing pieces? Whatever they are. Some are short, some are long. Some are more polished, some are more like journal entries. But I put them in the finished folder, so whatever they are, I guess they’re done.
I have currently started writing or had an idea for 23 pieces. These are either worked on pieces that are not yet finished, or some are just a subject idea and a few notes. I throw them in my unfinished folder to be revisited later. Some of them will make it out of that folder, and some of them might just get deleted after a while. Like Elizabeth Gilbert says in Big Magic, an idea won’t always wait around for you.
I have written 62 poems this year. Some of these were from a month long poetry workshop in February, and the rest just come out of me when they choose.
Annnnd, I wrote 1 song this year. Womp womp… I use to write tons of songs in high school and some in college, but now writing songs scares me a bit. Well, there’s a new goal for next year.
Notes app girlie 4ever.
I hope you have a wonderful first week of December! It’s almost Christmastime!!!!
xoxoxo
